A Thermal Gap Filler or Thermal Void Filler is a material, normally a pad, that sits between two components to increase the thermal bonding between them. This is a type of Thermal Interface Material that is used to remove air gaps to aid heat dissipation as air is such a poor conductor of heat. The Thermal Gap Filler is inserted between a heat-generating component and a heat sink or the products heat conductive chassis.
